FAQs

What is Long Lake Adventure Camp all about?

We are a non-competitive sleep away camp for boys and girls 9 to 16 years old. We emphasize team spirit and encourage our adventure campers to discover the great outdoors and their inner explorer in a safe and nurturing environment. We make everyday exciting and challenging.

What are the cabins my child will live in like?

Every cabin is fully insulated, has overhead sprinkler systems and exceeds New York’ highest safety standards. Each cabin has beautiful pine walls in the main room and cedar in the modern bathrooms. Campers can hang out on their porch during rest periods and look out over the beautiful Long Lake. Overnight the cabins stay nice and cool.

Where is Long Lake Adventure Camp and how do I get my child there?

We are an up-state New York summer camp, in the middle of the gorgeous Adirondack Park (Long Lake, New York, 12847). We offer a bus service coming from New York City, Westchester, Central New Jersey and Albany. We have many campers from all over the world fly into Albany airport and our most dedicated long time adventure camp staff are their to receive them.

Who looks after my child?

The owners live on camp as do the directors. Every bunk has councilors living with the campers. We have 3 registered nurses on call 24 hours a day and our camp doctor is only 5 minutes away. Our unit leaders (unique to Long Lake), are an extra layer of supervision and caring. They ensure parents are kept well informed and that your child is safe – eating well – happy – making friends and getting everything they want from camp.

Why should we trust you?

We are a third generation family run business that puts our campers first above all. Also, we have 43 years of fun safe summers. The New York Health Department is the strictest in the country and they visit us three times a year. All of our staff undergo extensive background checks and referencing before being hired by us personally. We uphold the best camping practices and pride ourselves on running the safest possible summer camp. Long Lake Camp is all we do, we spend all year making sure we are the best, most caring and responsive to our campers needs.

Can my child call home during the summer?

Yes, your child will call you once a week as will our unit leaders. You are able to call to chat to your child’s unit leader as well. We know an overnight camp can be hard for the parents and would never say you could not speak to your child.

I have more than one child, one is into adventure and sports and the other is into the arts, can you help?

Yes, we have a sister camp called Long Lake Camp For The Arts right next door to our adventure camp. So your travel plans are easy with a camp for all your children’s interests. Please find out more at www.longlakecamp.com

My Child is a picky eater, has allergy’s, is vegetarian or vegan will they have something to eat at every meal?

We take great pride in the food served to our adventure campers and make sure every camper eats well.  We cater to most specific diets
and always have something for vegetarians and vegans at every meal.  We can prepare food for almost any campers allergies and for
the pickiest of eaters.
